BMW G81 M3 Touring Parts, Modifications & Accessories

The BMW G81 M3 Touring is the first factory M3 estate, launched in 2022 as a Competition M xDrive model. Its S58 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six produced 510 PS and 650 Nm at launch, rising to 530 PS with the 2024 update, while the 2025 M3 CS Touring makes 550 PS. Every car uses the eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox and rear-biased M xDrive with a 2WD mode, so it pairs M3 pace with a practical load space.

Weight is the key consideration. The Touring is heavier than the saloon, which puts more load on brakes and tyres, so brake upgrades are a sensible early step: fast-road and track pads from Pagid and EBC Brakes, plus high-temperature fluid, keep the pedal consistent on long descents and track days. For handling, height-adjustable springs keep the adaptive dampers, while MOTON and MMX cover more serious suspension and chassis work.

For sound, a valved M3 Touring exhaust from R44 Exhausts or Remus adds character without making long journeys tiring. Do G80 M3 saloon parts fit the G81 M3 Touring?

From the front of the car to the B-pillar, largely yes. The Touring shares the saloon's S58 engine, gearbox, front bumper, brakes and most suspension parts, so intakes, cooling, front splitters and brake upgrades usually fit both. The rear bodywork, tailgate, rear bumper and diffuser are Touring-specific, and some exhaust and rear suspension parts are listed separately. What are the best first modifications for an M3 Touring?

Owners typically start with tyres and brakes, because the Touring is the heaviest M3 and works its pads and fluid hard on fast roads and track days. A valved cat-back exhaust is the most popular sound upgrade, and height-adjustable springs give a lower stance while keeping the adaptive dampers. Carbon mirror caps, splitters and a Touring diffuser are common styling choices. Tuning usually comes once the brakes and tyres are sorted.

Is every G81 M3 Touring xDrive, and does that affect which parts fit?

Yes. The M3 Touring has only been sold as a Competition M xDrive model, including the M3 CS Touring. M xDrive is rear-biased and provides 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes. Because the front driveshaft and differential sit under the car, some underbody parts, bracing and exhaust sections are made in xDrive-specific versions, so choose parts listed for xDrive or for the G81 itself.

Should I upgrade the brakes on my M3 Touring for track days?

For regular track use, it is worth it. The standard M compound brakes are strong on the road, but the Touring's extra weight means pads and fluid reach high temperatures quickly on circuit. Track-focused pads from brands such as Pagid or EBC, high-temperature fluid and fresh discs are the usual first steps. Cars with M Carbon ceramic brakes need pads made for ceramic discs. Budget for more frequent pad and fluid changes on a tracked car.

Can the M3 Touring be tuned like the M3 saloon?

Yes. It uses the same S58 engine and eight-speed gearbox, so ECU tunes and supporting parts are generally shared with the saloon. A software tune typically lifts the S58 to around 570–600 bhp, with more possible alongside sports-cat downpipes, cooling and fuel upgrades. Raised boost can crack the factory plastic charge pipes, so uprated pipes are a common supporting part. Results depend on the tuner, fuel quality and supporting modifications.

Will modifications affect my M3 Touring warranty or insurance?

In the UK, fitting aftermarket parts does not automatically void the whole BMW warranty, but a claim can be refused where the fault is linked to a modification. Engine software changes carry the most risk, while styling and brake parts rarely affect claims. Every modification should be declared to your insurer, as undeclared changes can invalidate a policy.
