Deep Tone Industries exhausts for BMW: downpipes, midpipes and the Z Pipe
Deep Tone Industries makes the part of the exhaust that defines how a BMW sounds, feels and flows: the downpipes and midpipes between the turbos and the rear silencer. Rather than selling a full system, Deep Tone focuses on that middle section and builds it around proven exhaust layouts, so you get a deeper, more controlled tone and better flow without replacing everything or overspending.
Why the middle of the exhaust matters
Most of an exhaust's character is set in the centre section. On twin-turbo engines such as the BMW S58, the factory dual midpipe lets exhaust pulses merge unevenly, which many owners hear as a thin, metallic rasp. A single or equal-length midpipe merges the two banks earlier and more evenly, giving a deeper and more cohesive note. Downpipes sit directly after the turbos, so they have the biggest effect on flow, spool and throttle response.
Choosing between Deep Tone parts
-
Resonated midpipe: the most refined option for daily driving, settled at a cruise.
-
Wide single midpipe: more presence under load, built for high-output cars.
-
Equal Length Z Pipe (x Toroing): the smoothest, most exotic S58 tone, with the factory back box retained.
-
200 cell sports cat downpipes: better flow and faster spool, with more refinement than catless.
-
Catless downpipes: maximum flow for motorsport use, with a no-CEL S58 version available.
Deep Tone vs replacing the whole exhaust
Deep Tone works with your factory rear silencer, or with any aftermarket rear section you already like, so you only replace the part that changes the sound. That's where the value comes from: established designs, years of real-world use, no unnecessary redesign costs and no branding tax.
Road use and legality
Catless downpipes are sold for motorsport use only. In the UK, a midpipe is not legal for road use if it removes a secondary catalytic converter or petrol particulate filter, or if it breaches noise regulations; US-market G8X cars don't have petrol particulate filters, so this matters less there. You are responsible for making sure a product is legal for your intended use before you buy. See our off-road and EPA disclaimer for more information.
