The MMX Oil Filter Housing for BMW S58 Engines is a billet aluminium replacement for the factory plastic housing, a component that is fragile by design and known to crack and leak oil. It is over-engineered in customary MMX fashion, giving a solid, precise feel at every service and removing a failure point that can end an engine.
Why The Factory Housing Fails
BMW moulds the S58 oil filter housing in plastic, and plastic in a hot, pressurised, repeatedly disturbed location has a finite life. The threads distort with each service, the material becomes brittle with heat cycling, and the housing eventually cracks. Because the crack releases pressurised oil, the consequences range from an expensive clean-up to a catastrophic loss of oil pressure.
A Permanent Replacement
Machined from solid aluminium, the MMX housing simply does not fail in the same way. The threads stay true through repeated services, the material is unaffected by heat cycling, and the sealing faces remain flat. It is a direct replacement for the factory item and requires no modification to install.
Better To Work On
Anyone who has serviced an S58 knows the plastic housing has to be handled carefully and torqued conservatively. A billet housing removes that anxiety entirely, and the machined grip makes servicing quicker. For a car being tracked or kept long-term, it is one of the more sensible upgrades available.

Does this include an oil filter?
No. The housing is supplied on its own. It pairs with the MMX S58 lifetime stainless steel oil filter, sold separately.
Is an O-ring service kit available?
Yes. The MMX S58 O-ring service kit, part MMR17-1603, supplies the four O-rings needed to service the housing and filter.
Does it fit a B58 engine?
No. B58 and B57 engines use a different housing, available separately from MMX.
