Solid Lifter Conversion Kit for BMW M52TU / M54 Engines

This solid lifter conversion kit offers a proven, easy solution for high-performance BMW builds. Tested for several years in M50 engines making over 1000 whp and spinning to 9000 RPM, this system replaces the hydraulic function with hardened steel shims installed inside factory-style hydraulic lifters for improved reliability and precision at high RPM.

You have two lifter options depending on your setup:

• 33 mm Setup: If you are using 33mm M52, M54, or S52 cam trays, you can reuse stock 33 mm lifters or install new OEM-style 33 mm lifters (such as those found under reference number 4200049100). Be sure to compare your existing lifters to the images in the provided instructions — only one style of stock 33mm lifter is compatible.

• 35mm Setup: Alternatively, you can use M50 cam trays with 35 mm diameter Volkswagen-style lifters (similar to part number 050109309H). These lifters match the M50 VANOS lifter dimensions but weigh only 48 grams — the same as M52 lifters — making them ideal for race and severe-duty applications due to their larger internal piston.

Unlike traditional lash caps, these hardened steel shims install between the original lifter piston and cup, making it impossible for them to fall out of position. Note: When installing in an M50 engine, lifter trays from an M52, S52, or M54 must be used.

Each kit includes two shim thicknesses. You can fine-tune valve lash in 0.002" increments by alternating shim combinations. On average, each lifter will require 4–5 shims. Each kit coverages 24 valves. 12 intake and 12 exhaust.
