The MMX BMW S63 Magnetic Engine Oil Sump Plug is a simple upgrade with a disproportionate effect on engine longevity. As an engine wears, fine ferrous particles become suspended in the oil and accelerate wear with every mile driven. A magnetic plug pulls those particles out of circulation and holds them at the bottom of the sump.
What The Magnet Actually Catches
The particles that do the most damage are too small for a filter to catch efficiently but are highly abrasive as they circulate through bearings and running surfaces. Because they are ferrous, a magnet captures them where a filter medium cannot. Every particle held on the plug is one that is no longer being pumped around the engine.
A Free Diagnostic At Every Service
There is a second benefit that experienced technicians value more than the first. Inspecting the plug at each oil change gives an immediate read on the engine's internal condition. A light grey film is normal. Visible flakes or a heavy accumulation is early warning of a problem, spotted at a stage where something can still be done about it.

Is a new crush seal needed?
Yes. A sump plug crush seal is single-use and should be renewed at every oil change. MMX supplies replacement seals in packs of five.
Does a magnetic plug replace an oil filter?
No. It works alongside the filter, catching fine ferrous particles the filter medium is not efficient at removing.
Why Fit A Magnetic Sump Plug?
This is one of the cheapest components on an S63 and one of the few that both reduces wear and tells the owner what is happening inside the engine. MMX machines it as a direct replacement. Available from R44 Performance with UK stock and worldwide shipping.
