The MMX Elite Series Panel Air Filter for the BMW N54 is a premium tri-foam direct OE replacement for E8X and E9X models running the 3.0 litre twin-turbo N54. It is built with techniques and materials drawn from Formula 1, World Rally and Touring Car filtration, and drops straight into the factory airbox with no modification.
What Tri-Foam Construction Does
A tri-foam element uses three layers of progressively finer open-cell foam rather than a single pleated paper medium. Larger particles are captured in the outer layer, finer ones deeper in, which spreads the dirt load through the depth of the filter instead of blocking its surface. The result is a filter that flows more freely than paper and holds that flow as it loads with use, rather than choking progressively between services.
Built For A Tuned N54
The N54 responds well to airflow, and a Stage 1 or Stage 2 car asks considerably more of its intake than a standard one. The Elite Series element is designed for exactly that duty cycle, offering motorsport-grade filtration for a road car that spends time at high load without giving up the protection the turbochargers depend on.
