MMX BMW N54 Charge Pipe For E82, E88, E90, E92 & E93 335i, 135i & 1M

The MMX BMW N54 Charge Pipe replaces the factory plastic charge pipe on E8X and E9X models with a high-flow aluminium item. The standard pipe is a well-documented weak point: raise boost pressure on an N54 and it eventually splits or cracks, usually at the worst possible moment and always at full throttle.

The First Thing To Fail On A Tuned N54

BMW moulded the N54 charge pipe in plastic, sized for standard boost. A Stage 1 map raises that pressure meaningfully, and a Stage 2 car with upgraded intercooling raises it further. The plastic pipe becomes brittle with heat cycling and eventually gives way. When it does, boost is lost instantly and the car will not drive properly until the pipe is replaced.

Aluminium Instead

An aluminium replacement does not split. The MMX pipe is engineered to handle significantly increased outputs without deforming, and the smoother internal bore flows better than the original moulding. It fits directly in place of the standard part and is a considerably tidier thing to look at in an E9X engine bay.

Fit It Before It Fails

Almost every tuned N54 gets a charge pipe eventually. Fitting one preventatively, rather than after being stranded on a motorway slip road, is the sensible sequence and usually costs the same.
