Take your BMW G90/G99 M5, F90 M5, F92 M8, F10 M5 or F12 M6 to the next level of reliability and performance with the CSF High Performance Engine Oil Cooler (8317). Designed for the legendary S63 twin-turbo V8 and proven to also work with the new S68 engine, this upgrade solves one of the biggest weaknesses of the factory system: oil temperature management under extreme load.

BMW’s factory oil cooler struggles when power levels rise or during demanding track sessions, with owners reporting temperatures climbing beyond 240°F (115°C). High oil temps not only sap performance but can also trigger limp mode or, worse, cause long-term engine damage. The CSF #8317 oil cooler was engineered in collaboration with Carbahn to withstand the extra heat from high-output builds, including stroker kits and 1000+ hp applications, while offering improved durability over the vulnerable OEM unit.

Key Engineering Upgrades

  • 33% Larger Core – Increased thickness (60mm vs. OEM 45mm) with three additional rows of cooling, boosting capacity by 0.5 quarts (0.47L).

  • Heavy-Duty Bar & Plate Core – Replaces the fragile OEM tube-and-fin design for maximum strength and improved heat dissipation.

  • CNC-Machined Connection Blocks – TIG-welded for extreme durability under high boost and track abuse.

  • TIG-Welded End Tanks – Stronger and more reliable than OEM brazed construction, minimising the risk of leaks.

  • Optimised Cooling Design – 14 cooling tubes and 15 fin rows (vs. OEM’s 11 tubes and 12 rows) for greater thermal efficiency.
