Developed in collaboration with Bisimoto, a renowned name in Hyundai tuning, this intercooler addresses the limitations of the OEM unit by enhancing heat dissipation and airflow efficiency, critical factors for turbocharged engines operating under extreme conditions.
In 2019, Bisimoto approached CSF to develop an upgraded intercooler for his factory-backed Veloster N SEMA project. The vehicle featured upgraded turbos and high-performance tuning that pushed the standard intercooler beyond its thermal capacity. Drawing from CSF’s expertise and their best-selling BMW N54/N55 intercooler technology, the front face of this intercooler incorporates CSF’s exclusive rounded bar/plate design. This design innovation optimizes the airflow by allowing air to smoothly curve around the front bars instead of colliding and scattering as it would on a traditional flat-bar surface, thereby improving heat exchange efficiency.
The stepped-core design maximizes the available frontal area behind the front bumper and underneath the crash bar. This core protrudes upward in front of the A.C. condenser and closely aligns with the crash bar for both the Veloster N and i30 N models, ensuring optimal cooling performance without compromising vehicle fitment. Prototype testing and data acquisition with Bisimoto confirmed the decision to retain the OEM-sized inlet and outlet connections, which minimizes pressure drop despite the intercooler’s larger size. This thoughtful engineering choice eliminates the need for costly silicone hoses, allowing CSF to offer a superior product at a competitive price point, enhancing value for the Hyundai N community.
The CSF #8238B intercooler is finished in a sleek black coating, designed to complement the vehicle’s engine bay aesthetics while providing corrosion resistance. For those preferring a traditional look, a silver finish version (CSF #8238) is also available. It is important to note that the CSF #8238/8238B models are specifically engineered for Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) variants of the Veloster N and i30 N. For manual transmission models, CSF offers the #8192/8192B intercooler options.
