The new BMW G90 and G99 M5 with the S68 twin-turbo V8 continues the M5’s legacy as the ultimate high-performance saloon. While the platform delivers incredible stock power, one of its main limitations comes from the fragile factory charge-air coolers. These OEM units struggle with heat and pressure when tuned, creating a bottleneck for power gains. CSF has solved this issue with the High Performance Charge Air Coolers, purpose-built for the G9X M5 and engineered to handle extreme boost, heat, and horsepower levels well beyond factory specifications.

CSF has already proven the formula with its S63/S68 charge-air coolers (CSF #8178 & #8315) on the F90 M5/M8 and F9X X5M/X6M, trusted worldwide on 900+ whp builds. That same technology has now been refined for the G90/G99 M5, ensuring reliability and performance for both tuned street cars and record-setting builds.

Design & Engineering

CSF’s engineering team leveraged experience from over 500+ S63 intercooler kits already in use globally. Using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis, CSF designed cores with maximum surface area and optimised fin density to control intake air temps under extreme load. The result is significantly improved thermal efficiency with minimal pressure drop, ensuring consistent performance under sustained hard driving, track use, or high-boost tuning.

The one-piece cast end tanks and integrated charge pipe eliminate weak points found in OEM units, ensuring the system can withstand much higher boost pressures without leaks or failure. This stronger construction allows tuners and enthusiasts to safely push the S68 platform to its full potential.


Real World Results

Testing on a stock BMW G90 M5 produced 696 whp and 729 wtq on pump fuel. After fitting CSF High Performance Charge Air Coolers alongside an upgraded carbon intake system, performance exhaust, and tuning module, the same car delivered 757 whp and 828 wtq – gains of over +60 horsepower and nearly +100 lb-ft of torque.

Importantly, these results were recorded in extreme 100°F heat and high humidity, proving the CSF coolers’ ability to maintain intake air temperature stability even under the harshest real-world conditions.

*Fitment Notes:

This product requires some minor modifications to install. The mounting pins that the coolers rest on will need to be shaved down to help the CSF coolers sit in a better position. CSF also recommends trimming the the air balancing tube to improve the fitment. The installation requires fine adjustments and aesthetic results will depend on the skill of the installer.
