BMW G90 & G99 M5 Body Kits Compared: The Complete Carbon Fibre Styling Guide

The BMW G90 M5 saloon and G99 M5 Touring divided opinion the moment BMW revealed them. The proportions are huge, the lower bumpers are tall and flat, and large areas of the car are finished in plain gloss-black trim. That combination is exactly why the G9X has become one of the busiest platforms for exterior styling we have ever seen at R44 Performance.

Our M5 (G90 & G99) exterior styling range now covers more than 80 products from six main manufacturers: MHC+, SooQoo, Adro, Maxton Design, Genuine BMW M Performance and Akrapovič. They do not all set out to do the same job. Some recreate BMW's own design in better carbon, some take the car somewhere far more aggressive, and one gives you the look for a fraction of the price.

This guide compares every brand side by side on material, finish, fitment, price and look, then walks through the G90 and G99 M5 piece by piece: splitters, side skirts, diffusers, spoilers, canards, arch trims, vented bonnets, mirror caps, reflectors and grilles. We have fitted a large share of these parts to our own G90 M5 development car at our London HQ, so where we have hands-on experience, we say so.

BMW G90 & G99 M5 Body Kit Brands Compared

Before choosing individual parts, it helps to understand what each brand is trying to achieve. The table below compares the six main manufacturers on the core front splitter, side skirt and rear diffuser package, using R44 Performance prices for the UK, US and Europe at the time of writing (October 2026). Prices throughout this guide are shown as GBP / USD / EUR.

Two things stand out. First, the price spread is enormous: a complete Maxton lower kit costs not much more than a pair of MHC+ mirror covers, while the Genuine BMW trio costs well over ten times as much. Second, MHC+, SooQoo, Adro and BMW all use pre-preg carbon, so the real differences between them are design, fitment approach, warranty and price rather than the raw material.

Pre-Preg Carbon vs Gloss Black ABS: What You Are Actually Paying For

Pre-preg (also called dry carbon) is carbon fibre supplied with a precisely controlled amount of resin already in the weave. It is laid into a mould and cured under heat and pressure. Compared with wet-lay carbon, where resin is applied by hand, pre-preg gives a lighter, stronger part with a more consistent weave and far fewer surface defects. That consistency matters on a G90 or G99 M5 more than most cars. When a splitter, two skirts and a diffuser sit on the same car, small differences in weave direction or lacquer depth become obvious. Every carbon brand in this guide uses pre-preg, and all finish their parts in a gloss UV-resistant lacquer or clear coat to slow yellowing.

Maxton Design takes a completely different route. Its parts are moulded from ABS plastic and supplied pre-finished in gloss black. ABS is flexible, light and tolerant of the odd kerb scrape, and the gloss black matches the factory trim that already covers much of the G9X. You do not get the visual depth of a carbon weave, but you do get a sharper lower body for a small fraction of the cost.

The Brands In Detail

MHC+ (MHC LDN)

R44 Performance is the technical partner of London-based carbon manufacturer MHC LDN, and we were directly involved in developing its G90 M5 range on our own development car. MHC+ is the brand's pre-preg carbon line. Every part is designed from 3D scan data, made in aluminium moulds, finished in a high-gloss UV- and chemical-resistant lacquer and covered by a 3-year warranty and fitment guarantee – the longest in this comparison.

The G90 and G99 range currently includes two front splitters (SP90 and Performance Style), Performance Style side skirts and rear diffuser, a G90 boot spoiler, M-style mirror covers, a shark fin antenna cover, a central front bumper trim and a carbon radiator slam panel for the engine bay. SooQoo: SQ-A vs SQ-B Explained

SooQoo offers the widest G9X range of any manufacturer we stock. Everything is pre-preg carbon in a high-gloss UV-protective clear coat with a 1-year warranty, and most parts are available in two distinct design lines:

• SQ-A is the sharper, more angular evolution of BMW's own shapes. The SQ-A rear diffuser, for example, keeps the two-piece layout of the M Performance diffuser but adds revised surfaces and extra slats.
• SQ-B is the more aggressive line. The SQ-B side skirts add a pronounced winglet ahead of the rear wheel, and the SQ-B rear diffuser is a five-piece design with a full central section, filling the gap BMW leaves in the middle of the factory diffuser.

Adro

Adro develops its parts from 3D scan data of the G90 M5 and refines the shapes with CFD (computational fluid dynamics). The result is a more motorsport-led look with deep sculpted fins and channels, especially at the rear. Construction is prepreg dry carbon in a gloss finish, and the splitter, skirts and diffuser are designed to fit without modification. Adro sits towards the top of the price range, so it suits owners who want a distinctive, engineered look rather than the most affordable carbon route.

Maxton Design

Maxton Design is the budget option for the G90 and G99 M5. Its V1 and V2 front splitters, V1 side skirts and rear diffuser extension are each under £220 / $275 / €265, moulded in ABS from 3D scan data and finished in gloss black so no painting is needed. The parts are TÜV Materialgutachten certified and supplied with fitting kits. For saloon owners there is also a gloss black boot spoiler and rear window extension.

Genuine BMW M Performance

BMW's own M Performance splitter, skirts and diffuser are made from pre-preg carbon with a 2x2 weave. They follow the car's factory design language exactly and carry the BMW part number, which matters to some owners at resale. The trade-off is price: the Genuine BMW trio is the most expensive lower body package in this guide, and the aftermarket alternatives from MHC+ and SooQoo offer similar materials for considerably less.

Akrapovič

Akrapovič is best known for its exhausts, but it also produces a gloss carbon rear diffuser for the G90 and G99 and a carbon lip spoiler for the G90 saloon. The diffuser keeps an OE-inspired shape, so it is a natural choice if you want a premium rear end without changing the character of the factory design, particularly alongside an Akrapovič exhaust.

BMW G90 & G99 M5 Styling Parts: Piece By Piece

Every part below is listed for both the G90 saloon and G99 Touring unless we say otherwise. The lower bumpers and sills are shared between the two bodies; the differences are at the rear, which we cover in the spoiler section.

Front Splitters

The front splitter makes the biggest single change to the G9X M5 because it gives the tall, flat front bumper a clear lower edge. It is also where the brands differ most.

• MHC+ SP90 (£1,260 / $1,250 / €1,295) – the first carbon splitter developed for the platform and still the most recognisable. It is a three-piece design that extends the lines of the factory lower grille, has a thick 15mm front profile and a large underside return to resist scrapes, and bolts to 10 of the OEM mounting positions, so no drilling is needed.
• MHC+ Performance Style (£990 / $1,325 / €1,020) – a two-piece design with a central gap, closer to the factory M Performance look.
• SooQoo SQ-A (£1,022.99 / $1,039.99 / €987.99) and SooQoo SQ-B (£1,042.99 / $1,059.99 / €1,006.99) – both three-piece for easier alignment; SQ-A is very angular, SQ-B is the bolder option.
• Adro (£1,850 / $1,850 / €2,220) – CFD-refined and developed from 3D scan data.
• Genuine BMW M Performance (£2,200.01 / $2,750.01 / €2,640.01) – two-piece, factory design.
• Maxton Design V1 and V2 (£174 / $217.50 / €208.80 each) – gloss black ABS.

Whichever splitter you choose, a front lip protection kit (£74 / $71.95 / €88.80) on the underside is cheap insurance on a car this low and this heavy. SooQoo's OEM-style carbon skid plate (£599.99 / $649.99 / €719.99) also replaces the plastic underside guard if you want carbon all the way through.

Side Skirts

The G9X M5 has a long, flat sill that disappears visually under so much bodywork. Side skirts are what tie a front splitter and rear diffuser into one kit, so we always recommend choosing them alongside the other two pieces rather than in isolation.

• MHC+ Performance Style (£1,110 / $1,500 / €1,145) – a clean extension with a subtle fin towards the rear arch that lines up with the MHC+ diffuser.
• SooQoo SQ-A (£1,180.99 / $1,199.99 / €1,139.99) and SooQoo SQ-B (£1,288.99 / $1,309.99 / €1,244.49) – both have a cut-out so the factory puddle lights still shine onto the ground; SQ-B adds an aggressive winglet ahead of the rear wheel.
• Adro (£1,950 / $2,150 / €2,340), Genuine BMW M Performance (£2,400 / $3,000 / €2,880) and Maxton Design V1 (£174 / $217.50 / €208.80).

Rear Diffusers

The factory G9X diffuser is split into two outer sections with a gap in the middle. How each brand treats that gap is the easiest way to tell the options apart.

If you already run an aftermarket exhaust or plan to, check tip position and clearance before fitting any diffuser that wraps closely around the outlets. Carbon R44 exhaust tips (£349.99 / $349.99 / €349.99) are a simple way to tie the tips into a carbon diffuser on the standard system.

Spoilers: G90 Saloon vs G99 Touring

This is where the two bodies part ways. The G90 saloon has a smooth, quite boxy boot lid, and almost every brand offers a lip spoiler for it. The G99 Touring has a tailgate and factory roof spoiler instead, so saloon boot spoilers will not fit, and the choice is much smaller.

• MHC+ Performance Style – £264 / $340 / €275, a quick install and one of the best-value carbon upgrades on the car
• SooQoo – £304.99 / $309.99 / €294.49, sharpens the flat factory boot lid
• Adro – £950 / $950 / €1,140, CFD-validated, no drilling or trimming
• Akrapovič – £1,513.51 / $1,891.89 / €1,816.21

G90 saloon roof and rear window: SooQoo's upper roof spoiler (£373.99 / $379.99 / €360.99) and Maxton's gloss black rear window extension (£134 / $167.50 / €160.80) both sit at the top of the rear screen and can be paired with a boot spoiler for a layered look.

G99 M5 Touring spoilers: SooQoo's G99 Touring roof spoiler (£1,170.99 / $1,189.99 / €1,130.49) is the main carbon option. It is made from prepreg dry carbon, uses OEM mounting positions wherever possible and is finished in a UV-resistant lacquer rated for up to five years of anti-yellowing protection. SooQoo also lists a smaller G99 rear spoiler (£379.99 / $449.99 / €455.99), which also fits the G61 5 Series Touring.

Front Canards

Canards add a short carbon blade to each outer corner of the front bumper, giving the front end a more track-inspired look. SooQoo's SQ front canards (£314.99 / $319.99 / €303.99) are the only canards in our G9X range. They suit the more aggressive SQ-B kit best, but also work alongside the SP90 lip.

Wheel Arch Trims

SooQoo's SQ wheel arch trims (£530.99 / $539.99 / €512.99) are pre-preg carbon pieces that accentuate the M5's flared arches and follow the factory body lines. They are a subtle way to carry carbon up from the sills, and they look particularly good with a lowered car where the wheel and arch become the focal point.

Vented Carbon Bonnets

The biggest single carbon part available for the G9X is SooQoo's vented bonnet. It is made from 3K twill pre-preg carbon and weighs just 13.5kg despite being one of the largest bonnets on any modern BMW M car. It uses OEM-style mounting points and is test-fitted before dispatch. There are two versions:

• Exposed pre-preg carbon – £3,799.99–£4,399.99 / $3,899.99–$4,499.99 / €4,559.99–€5,279.99, supplied raw or in high-gloss UV-resistant lacquer, with optional carbon vent grilles.
• Gloss black painted – £3,599.99 / $3,699.99 / €4,319.99, for a factory-painted look that still saves weight.

A bonnet is a structural, safety-relevant panel, so we strongly recommend professional fitting and alignment.

Mirror Caps & Antenna Covers

Mirror caps are one of the most visible carbon details from the driver's seat. MHC+'s M wing mirror covers (£468–£516 / $640 / €485–€535 depending on left- or right-hand drive) follow the M mirror shape in pre-preg carbon. BMW's own M Performance carbon mirror caps (£1,020 / $1,275 / €1,224) are shared with the G60 5 Series, G70 7 Series and G45 X3.

On the roof, the MHC+ carbon shark fin cover (£72 / $95 / €75) is the cheapest carbon part on the car, while BMW's M Performance aramid antenna cover (£352 / $440 / €422.40) is the factory alternative.

Reflector Deletes & Reflector Trims

The G9X's orange front reflectors and red rear bumper reflectors break up the bodywork, especially on darker paint. IND's painted front reflector set (£199.99–£239.99 / $199.95–$239.90 / €239.99–€287.99) and rear bumper reflector set (£149.99–£189.99 / $149.95–$189.90 / €179.99–€227.99) replace them with direct-fit parts painted in-house to genuine BMW paint codes.

If you would rather add carbon than colour-match, SooQoo's rear reflector trims (£294.99 / $299.99 / €284.99) fit around the factory rear reflectors rather than replacing them.

Please note: rear reflectors are a legal requirement on road cars in the UK and many other markets. Painting over or removing them may affect road legality and MOT results, and the customer is responsible for ensuring their vehicle is legal for its intended use.

Grilles & Front Bumper Trims

The lower centre of the G9X front bumper is a large gloss-black grille section, and it is the area the SP90 lip was specifically designed around. You can go further with a carbon central front bumper trim from MHC+ (£960 / $990 / €990) or SooQoo (£1,072.99 / $1,089.99 / €1,035.49).

For protection rather than looks, Zunsport's UK-made front grille mesh guard set (£539 / $673.75 / €646.80) covers the front grille, intakes and lower cooling ducts in black powder-coated stainless mesh, shielding the radiators, intercoolers and oil coolers from stone damage without restricting airflow.

Ready-Made G90 & G99 M5 Carbon Kits

If you would rather not mix and match, there are two bundled kits:

• The MHC LDN x SooQoo Lower Body Kit (£4,099.99 / $5,124.99 / €4,919.99) combines the MHC+ SP90 front splitter, SooQoo SQ-A side skirts and SooQoo SQ-B rear diffuser – one of the most popular combinations we fit. Which BMW G90 & G99 M5 Body Kit Should You Choose?

You can also mix brands freely. All the carbon brands use gloss-lacquered pre-preg, so an MHC+ splitter, SooQoo skirts and an Akrapovič diffuser will sit happily together. The one combination we would avoid is pairing gloss black ABS with exposed carbon on the same lower edge, because the contrast tends to make the plastic look cheaper than it is.

Fitting Tips From The R44 Workshop

• Use the OEM mounting points. The better kits, including MHC+ and SooQoo, are designed around factory fixing positions so you do not need to drill your M5. Fit pieces loosely first, align everything, then tighten.
• Surface prep makes or breaks adhesive parts. Clean and degrease every tape line thoroughly. On a PPF-wrapped car, check the condition of the film before bonding to it.
• Check rear clearances. Aftermarket exhausts, tow bars and rear-mounted accessories can all affect how a diffuser sits.
• Protect the splitter. A G9X M5 weighs over 2.4 tonnes, so a lowered car with a carbon lip will meet speed bumps. A protection strip on the underside is well worth it.
• Bonnets and full kits are best fitted professionally. We fit all of these parts at our London HQ.
