SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Body Kit: Full Breakdown & Installation

The latest BMW G45 X3 has taken a very different design direction from the generation it replaces. BMW has simplified many of the exterior surfaces, increased the visual size of the front and rear ends and given the new X3 a much cleaner overall shape. The result is distinctive, but it also leaves plenty of scope for owners who want their X3 to look sharper and more aggressive.

That is exactly where the SooQoo BMW G45 X3 carbon fibre body kit comes in.

Rather than concentrating on one or two small carbon additions, SooQoo has developed an extensive range for the new X3 covering the front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear bumper details, rear window area and spoilers. We recently fitted the majority of the range to a BMW G45 X3 M50 at R44 Performance, giving us the opportunity to see how the components fit, how substantial they are in person and, most importantly, how much they change the appearance of the car.

The transformation is significant. The standard G45 is already a large SUV, but the SooQoo kit gives the lower half of the car considerably more definition while adding carbon details to some of the flatter areas around the rear. If you are looking for a subtle factory-style carbon package, this probably isn't it. SooQoo's approach is intentionally more aggressive.

Here is the complete range and what each component adds to the new BMW X3.

What Is Included In The SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Range?

The SooQoo range currently consists of:

• Gloss carbon fibre front splitter
• Gloss carbon fibre side skirts
• Gloss carbon fibre rear diffuser
• Gloss carbon fibre rear bumper inserts
• Gloss carbon fibre rear window fins
• Gloss carbon fibre mid rear spoiler
• Gloss carbon fibre roof spoiler

Each component is manufactured from 3K prepreg dry carbon fibre and finished with a high-gloss UV-resistant lacquer. SooQoo specifies a minimum of 3–5 years of anti-yellowing protection depending on climate, use and how the car is looked after, but in our experience the finish lasts longer than this in most cases. It holds up just as well as, if not better than, genuine BMW carbon fibre parts.

The components also include a one-year manufacturer warranty and are developed around the G45 X3's original bodywork, with factory mounting positions retained wherever possible.

That latter point became particularly noticeable when we installed the kit ourselves.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Front Splitter

The SooQoo front splitter creates one of the biggest changes to the G45 X3's appearance.

BMW's new front-end design is very tall and relatively flat, particularly around the lower bumper. Adding the carbon splitter visually anchors the bottom of the car, giving the front bumper a much more defined finishing point.

Unlike a very thin lip, the SooQoo splitter has a substantial profile and continues several of the shapes already present in the G45's bumper. That means it looks intentional rather than simply being a strip of carbon attached underneath the car.

It is also a three-piece design. During installation, the centre section and two outer sections are connected together from behind using M6 hardware. Once assembled, the pieces work together as one structure rather than each section simply being mounted independently to the bumper.

Installation also makes use of the vehicle's existing fixing locations. We initially installed the components loosely, aligned the complete splitter against the bumper and only then tightened everything into its final position. This gives you the ability to make small alignment adjustments before the splitter is fully secured.

Despite how aggressive it looks from the front, it is worth noting that the splitter does not project dramatically beyond the existing front profile of the X3. It makes the face of the car appear much stronger without adding an excessive amount of extra length.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Side Skirts

Viewed from the side, the standard G45 X3 has a relatively straight and understated lower sill. On a vehicle with this much height and bodywork above the beltline, that section can easily disappear into the overall shape of the car.

The SooQoo carbon fibre side skirts change that considerably.

Rather than simply running flat underneath the sill, the SooQoo extensions have a much wider profile and a pronounced lower kick. They also follow the existing body lines of the X3, helping connect the front and rear of the kit rather than looking like an unrelated addition.

When fitted to our X3 M50, this was one of the first modifications where the difference became immediately obvious. The side profile became visually wider and the carbon created a much clearer lower edge to the car.

Installation combines adhesive mounting with the original fixing locations where applicable. As with any adhesive-mounted exterior component, preparing the surface correctly is important. We cleaned the mounting surface thoroughly before installation so the supplied tape had a clean, dry surface to bond to.

If you are planning to build the complete SooQoo G45 X3 package rather than fitting individual pieces, the side skirts are particularly important because they visually join the larger front splitter and rear diffuser together.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser

If there is one component that defines this entire kit, it is probably the rear diffuser.

It is enormous.

The standard G45 X3 rear bumper already uses a large lower section, but much of it is relatively flat, with only restrained detailing surrounding the exhaust area. SooQoo takes that entire section and gives it considerably more depth.

The carbon diffuser extends beneath the exhaust outlets and incorporates much more pronounced channels and fins. Combined with the gloss carbon construction, it completely changes the lower half of the rear bumper.

It was also the component that highlighted why installation conditions need to be considered carefully.

Our X3 M50 was fitted with an aftermarket exhaust, and its silencers and exhaust tips were sitting lower than the original system. Because the SooQoo diffuser wraps much more closely around and underneath the tips, the exhaust initially made contact with the carbon.

Rather than fitting the diffuser with insufficient clearance, we adjusted the exhaust position upwards until the tips sat correctly within the openings.

The car was also equipped with a tow bar, which required a localised modification to the diffuser to retain access. Owners with non-standard exhaust systems, tow bars or other rear-mounted accessories should therefore confirm clearance before installation.

On a standard vehicle, the diffuser is developed around the original bumper and mounting positions. The factory rear light incorporated into the lower diffuser area is transferred across during installation.

Once fitted and properly aligned, the effect at the rear of the G45 is substantial. Particularly with carbon exhaust tips, the diffuser ties the entire lower section together.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Rear Bumper Inserts

The full kit is not only about fitting the largest carbon components.

SooQoo also offers carbon fibre rear bumper inserts, positioned around the outer sections of the rear bumper near the reflectors.

These areas are relatively easy to overlook on the standard X3 because they blend into the surrounding trim. Swapping them for gloss carbon adds additional texture and definition, particularly when viewed from the rear three-quarter angle.

The SooQoo pieces also introduce additional surface detailing and defined lines into these sections rather than simply recreating the flat factory panels in carbon.

Alongside the rear diffuser, they help make the width of the bumper much more noticeable.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Rear Window Fins

Further up the rear of the X3 are the SooQoo carbon fibre rear window fins.

Again, these are smaller components, but they make particularly good use of an area that is otherwise finished in fairly simple gloss-black trim.

SooQoo's carbon replacements introduce a more detailed profile, with raised surfaces and defined lines that follow the surrounding shapes of the bodywork.

This becomes particularly effective once the lower rear bumper has already gained the larger diffuser and carbon inserts. Instead of having all the carbon concentrated around the bottom of the vehicle, the rear window fins carry the same material further up the tailgate.

It makes the complete package look considerably more cohesive.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Mid Rear Spoiler

One of the more unusual components in the range is the mid rear spoiler.

Rather than sitting at the very top of the tailgate in the traditional position, this spoiler mounts lower down around the rear window area. Designs like this have become increasingly popular on modern SUVs and hatchbacks because they add another horizontal feature across a large, relatively upright tailgate.

On the G45 X3, it creates a second lip below the factory upper spoiler.

It is certainly one of the more subjective parts of the kit. Some owners will prefer the cleaner rear profile without it, while others will like the additional layering created by having both an upper and lower spoiler.

On a car fitted with the complete SooQoo package, however, the extra carbon works particularly well alongside the rear window fins and large diffuser below.

SooQoo BMW G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Roof Spoiler

The SooQoo roof spoiler completes the upper section of the range.

This was not fitted to the X3 M50 during our installation video, but it is available as part of the wider SooQoo G45/G48 X3 carbon range.

Manufactured using the same 3K prepreg dry carbon construction as the other components, the roof spoiler extends the upper tailgate profile and adds another significant carbon element to the rear of the vehicle.

Owners can therefore choose between the mid spoiler, the upper roof spoiler or use the two together depending on how aggressive they want the finished X3 to appear.

What Is SooQoo's G45 X3 Carbon Fibre Made From?

One of the biggest distinctions between this range and cheaper carbon-look components is the construction.

SooQoo uses 3K prepreg dry carbon fibre throughout the G45 X3 range.

With prepreg manufacturing, the carbon material is supplied with a controlled amount of resin already incorporated into it before curing. Compared with basic wet-lay carbon production, this allows better control over the finished component, helping create a cleaner weave, more consistent moulding and a favourable strength-to-weight ratio.

For styling components, another important advantage is consistency. When you are installing a front splitter, side skirts, diffuser and several smaller pieces on the same vehicle, differences in weave or surface finish become much easier to notice.

Using the same carbon specification throughout the range helps the full package look like one cohesive kit rather than a collection of unrelated parts.

Each component is then finished with a high-gloss UV-resistant lacquer. How Well Does The SooQoo G45 X3 Kit Fit?

Our experience installing the majority of the kit was positive, particularly when it came to the way the larger components had been designed around the original car.

The front splitter and side skirts make use of factory fixing locations, while additional adhesive is used where required. The three-piece front splitter also bolts together internally, creating a much more integrated assembly once fitted.

The main difficulty we encountered at the rear was not caused by the normal G45 X3 bodywork. It came from the particular vehicle we were working on having a modified exhaust mounted lower than standard, along with a tow bar.

That is an important distinction if you are considering the diffuser. Fitment on a modified vehicle can be affected by other aftermarket components even when the carbon itself has been designed around the original car.

For cars that have been PPF'd, we also installed adhesive-mounted components directly over the protected surface. As always, the condition and quality of the existing PPF installation should be checked before fitting additional parts.

How Much Does The SooQoo Carbon Kit Change The BMW G45 X3?

A lot.

The biggest difference is not simply the fact that the car now has visible carbon fibre. It is the way the components change the proportions and definition of the lower bodywork.

At the front, the splitter gives the tall bumper a much stronger lower edge. From the side, the skirts make the sill more prominent and visually connect the front and rear. At the back, the enormous diffuser transforms an area that is comparatively restrained in factory form.

The smaller rear window fins and bumper inserts then fill in areas that would otherwise remain gloss black, while the spoiler options allow owners to decide how far they want to take the design.

Our G45 X3 M50 looked like a very different vehicle once everything was installed. The basic BMW design was still clearly there, but many of its flatter surfaces were now more defined and the car had considerably more presence from almost every angle. Can You Buy The SooQoo G45 X3 Carbon Parts Individually?

Yes. One of the advantages of this range is that you do not have to commit to every component.

For a relatively simple starting point, the front splitter alone makes a substantial difference. Pairing the splitter with the side skirts gives the lower half of the vehicle a more consistent appearance, while the rear diffuser is the obvious choice for owners wanting the most dramatic rear-end change.

You can then add the rear bumper inserts, rear window fins and spoiler options depending on the look you want to achieve.

That also makes it possible to build the car in stages rather than installing the complete package at once.

Is The SooQoo Carbon Fibre Kit Worth Considering For The BMW G45 X3?

If the objective is to make the new X3 look noticeably more aggressive, the SooQoo range delivers exactly that.

These are not tiny carbon accents that disappear once you stand a few metres away from the car. The front splitter, side skirts and particularly the rear diffuser have substantial profiles, while the additional rear details allow you to continue the carbon theme across the rest of the vehicle.

The use of 3K prepreg dry carbon fibre, UV-resistant gloss lacquer and vehicle-specific mounting points also gives the range the material specification and fitment approach we would want from a full exterior carbon package.
