The new BMW F70 M135 xDrive received quite the mix of opinions when it was first unveiled. As with most modern BMWs the looks are controversial to begin with, it will then start to grow on people when they figure out how brilliant it is on the road and owners will turn to the aftermarket industry to sharpen up the looks and improve performance.

Of course, BMW recognises this and has already launched the F70 M135 xDrive OEM M Performance kit featuring an array of aggressive styling parts to set the M135 apart from the average 1 Series.

M Performance Carbon Fibre Exhaust Tips

Just take a look at these! Quad carbon tailpipes on an M-lite?! Usually something reserved only for full-fat M cars, the quad-tips look extremely aggressive - not something we were expecting so well done BMW…

M Performance Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser

Look just around the quad tailpipes and you’ll notice a stunning gloss carbon fibre rear diffuser. With its aggressive, angular design, the M Performance diffuser gives the M135 undeniable road presence.

M Performance Gloss Black Rear Wing

BMW Motorsport department seems to have taken a leaf out of the book of AMG with the M Performance gloss black rear wing. This spoiler looks like it's been pulled straight off an A35 AMG which is no criticism. This is definitely an upgrade that will demand a premium on the used market in a couple of year’s time.

M Performance Gloss Black Front Splitter

Despite the mixed response, we quite like the front end in comparison to the previous F40 generation - and the front splitter makes it even better. Like the rear wing, the front lip is made from gloss black. We’re not too sure why BMW made this kit part gloss black and part carbon but it does reduce the cost for those wanting to stock with OEM components. The splitter doesn’t have a huge effect on ground clearance but offers a more aggressive design with side winglets on either side.

M Performance Gloss Black Side Skirts

Just like the splitter, the M Performance gloss black side skirts feature a subtle fin that adds to the overall aggression of the vehicle and keeps the kit nice and cohesive. If you’re not a fan of the winglets, don’t worry as flat aftermarket versions are not long away.

M Performance Gloss Black Canards

A subtle modification - you’d be forgiven for missing it - the M Performance front canard aero flicks are a stick on upgrade that make the F70’s front end look a bit meaner. They also give the illusion of width when looking at the car head-on which looks awesome.

M Performance Carbon Fibre Antenna Cover

BMW knows it’s all in the details. The M Performance carbon fibre antenna cover is a subtle upgrade however, we know how popular these are so BMW were smart to include it in the catalogue.

M Performance Alcantara Armrest

Last but not least is the Alcantara M Performance armrest. These have been hugely popular on the G80 M3s, G82 M4s etc. and BMW has introduced a version specific to the 1 Series. Sporting the M Performance logo and tri-colour stitching, the armrest takes the already premium interior to the next level.

Remember, all components of the M Performance kit are available from R44 Performance along with many other OEM & aftermarket upgrades.
