BMW F44 M235i xDrive Gran Coupe Parts, Modifications & Accessories

The BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupe (F44) was produced from 2020 to 2024 as a four-door coupe built on the same front-wheel-drive-based platform as the F40 M135i. It shares that car's uprated B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, rated at 306PS (302bhp) and 450Nm, with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic, xDrive all-wheel drive and a mechanical Torsen front differential. The result is a quick, compact saloon with a strong engine and plenty of room to improve the chassis and braking.

Brakes are where many owners begin. The Gran Coupe carries more weight than its size suggests, so EBC brake kits, pads and discs combined with MOTUL fluid give a firmer pedal and better resistance to fade on fast roads and track days. For the suspension, KW coilovers add adjustable ride height and damping, and wheel spacers sharpen the stance.

Inside and out, SHFT and MMX paddle shifters improve the feel of every gearchange, while Maxton Design splitters and side skirts give the four-door body a lower, more purposeful look. Tillett seats suit drivers building a more focused car. For servicing and engine tuning, the range covers MOTUL oil and coolant, VP Racing fuel and supporting parts, with Ramair silicone and induction components alongside.

Each product shows exactly which cars it fits, and adding your M235i to My Garage keeps the catalogue filtered to your car. Speak to the R44 team for build advice, book fitting at our Wembley workshop, or choose express delivery worldwide.

M235i xDrive (F44) FAQs

Is the M235i Gran Coupe the same as the M135i underneath?

Mechanically, very nearly. The F44 M235i xDrive Gran Coupe uses the same platform, uprated B48 2.0-litre engine, eight-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox, xDrive system and front Torsen limited-slip differential as the F40 M135i, with the same 306PS and 450Nm. The differences are mainly the four-door coupe body, which changes exterior parts such as splitters and side skirts, and slightly different weight and packaging.

What are good first mods for an M235i Gran Coupe?

Owners usually begin with upgrades that improve the drive without changing the car's character. Uprated brake pads with high-temperature fluid make a clear difference on a car of this weight, aluminium paddle shifters improve the feel of the gearbox, and a front splitter or side skirts sharpen the look. Suspension, either springs or coilovers, is a common next step, followed by software if you want more performance.

How much power can a tuned M235i F44 make?

Because it shares the F40 M135i's engine, stage 1 software typically takes the M235i from 306PS and 450Nm to around 350PS and 530Nm, depending on the tuner and fuel. The B48 in this car has a reinforced crank, pistons and a larger turbo, so it handles that well. The limiting factors are the eight-speed automatic and front differential, so choose a calibration that manages torque sensibly.

Are coilovers worth it on the M235i Gran Coupe?

If you want to lower the car and control body movement better, coilovers are a worthwhile upgrade. A KW kit lets you set ride height and, depending on version, adjust damping, which suits drivers who use the car on track as well as the road. If your car has adaptive dampers, check whether the kit includes an electronic cancellation module. A full alignment after fitting is essential.

Do I need to upgrade the brakes on an M235i?

For normal road use the standard M Sport brakes are adequate, but the M235i is a relatively heavy car with a strong engine, so drivers who push hard or do track days can find the standard set-up reaches its limits. Performance pads, a fluid flush with a high-boiling-point fluid such as MOTUL RBF, and uprated discs are the usual first steps. A big brake kit makes sense if you have added power. Check fitment on each product before ordering.

Does modifying an M235i affect insurance and warranty in the UK?

You must declare all modifications to your insurer, including cosmetic ones, or you risk an invalid policy. For warranty, fitting aftermarket parts does not automatically cancel BMW cover, but a claim can be refused if a fault is linked to the modification, and remaps are often detectable. Many owners stick to bolt-on parts such as brakes and suspension while the car is under warranty.
