At the start of 2025, we took delivery of our BMW G90 M5 with the idea of keeping it for a short while to develop some mods and accessories for you all to enjoy. We helped develop and launch MHC LDN’s carbon fibre body kit, including the popular SP90 front lip. We had plans with Akrapovic, Scorpion, AST, GTHaus, Bimecc & more, which have now come to fruition. We’d then move the M5 on and invest in development on another BMW model.
However, demand for G90/G99 parts grew rapidly, and the M5 proved too valuable to let go, so instead of moving it on, we decided to reinvent it with a fresh look that would stand out in a growing field of modified examples.
The turning point came at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Rhys spotted Urban Automotive’s Kim Kardashian-spec Range Rover - a recreation of the car they built for her over in the US. The silver-on-silver aesthetic was a departure from our usual builds dominating social media. The full-face wheels are also not something you typically associate with a performance car, but the M5 is enough of a luxury car to pull them off!
We know this version of the car will divide opinions (as if the car wasn’t divisive already). But we’ve done the OEM+ G90, and now it’s time for something more bold.
The R44 G90 M5 Build
3M Satin Silver Vinyl Wrap
The wrap is the foundation of the new look, and it suits the car even more than we imagined. The satin finish also highlights the lines of the car, where the Carbon Black Metallic paint underneath hid them. Our friend Jake (@jakethewrapperr) is responsible for the flawless wrap finish. Jake has wrapped all our cars over the year, so a huge thanks to him!
Vossen 22” HF-9 Hybrid Forged Wheels in a Custom Gloss Silver Finish
Finding some full-face wheels was key to achieving the true Kim K look. Naturally, we turned to Vossen, which recently released this stunning HF-9 design from its Hybrid Forged series. Although it looks like a full face, there are some small spokes around the rim which help to break up the design a bit - something that makes this style of wheel work on an M car.
The 22” HF-9s were custom-ordered to exact specs, meaning no spacers were needed, and the fitment is insanely aggressive.
AST Development Springs
A substantial drop was essential to complete the showcar look. We’ve been running these AST development springs for a while now, and they lower the ride height more than AST’s production version. To be honest, the development springs were too low and AST dialled it back for customer sets to improve drivability on the road.
MHC LDN SP90 Front Lip
Still the signature piece of the build. The SP90 front lip was the first carbon part developed for this platform and remains one of the most recognisable upgrades. MHC LDN Carbon Fibre Skirts and Rear Spoiler
The Performance-style side skirts and rear spoiler balance the car’s profile. Both are designed to match factory body lines, adding presence without looking overdone. Remember, all MHC LDN carbon fibre is pre-preg with a 3-year warranty and fitment guarantee.
Sooqoo SQ-A Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
nAew rear-end addition, the Sooqoo SQ-A diffuser brings a more aggressive lower section to the M5. It frames the exhaust system neatly and ties in with the other carbon elements.
R44 Gloss Exhaust Tips & Development Scorpion Mid-Section
Exhaust tips finished in gloss carbon fibre complete the rear view, while the development Scorpion mid-section brings a deeper tone. The combination keeps things OEM+ in appearance but with a noticeable upgrade in sound.
CSF Charge Cooler Inlet Manifolds Painted Gold
Beyond performance benefits, the gold finish makes the CSF manifolds a highlight whenever the bonnet is open. They add colour and contrast against the otherwise monochrome exterior theme. These are development items based on the F90 M5 inlets.
Downstar Inc. Engine Bay Dress Up Kit In Red
This kit replaces standard hardware with anodised red fasteners, instantly making the bay look more premium. Downstar’s range of colour options gave us the freedom to pick something that would really pop.
Goldenwrench Supply Co Billet Cap Covers In Red
To continue the red accents, we added billet aluminium caps from Goldenwrench. Each piece covers the factory plastic with premium machined aluminium, bringing both durability and style.
CarbonBay Engine and ECU Covers
A full set of carbon fibre covers for the engine and ECUs clean up the bay and match the exterior carbon parts. They replace the cheap-looking plastic items to reflect the high-performance nature of the G90 M5.
MHC LDN Radiator Shroud and Slam Panel Cover
This carbon fibre panel finishes the bay with precise fitment and high-gloss-coated carbon weave, an upgrade that makes the engine compartment feel complete.
The Finished Look
The transformation has turned our G90 M5 into something very different from its original launch spec. The silver wrap and brushed wheels deliver an aesthetic rarely seen on a BMW, while the carbon fibre additions keep the aggressive edge you expect from an M5. The engine bay upgrades make sure the details hold up to scrutiny as much as the exterior does.
For us, this car has gone from a development tool to a rolling showcase. Inspired by Kim Kardashian’s Urban Automotive Range Rover, the R44 G90 M5 now reflects not only the influence of celebrity culture but also the attention to detail we put into every build.
