The BMW G81 M3 CS Touring has just made history at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with an astonishing lap time of 7:29.49. The CS-badged estate becomes the first production wagon ever to dip under the 7:30 mark around the Green Hell.

The Fastest Wagon at the ‘Ring
The previous record? Held by none other than the standard M3 Touring (G81), which clocked in at 7:35.06 – already a jaw-dropping figure for a road-legal estate. But BMW’s M division wasn’t satisfied. Handing the reins to M development driver Jörg Weidinger, the CS Touring obliterated that time by 5.57 seconds, showing exactly what the lighter, more focused CS formula can achieve.

Spanning 12.9 miles (20.8 km) and over 70 corners, the Nürburgring Nordschleife is the ultimate benchmark for performance cars. With a lap time within one second of the G80 M3 CS saloon (7:28.7), the Touring proves its extra weight doesn’t slow it down where it matters most.

How Does It Stack Up Against Other M Cars?
- M2 CS – 7:25.5
- M3 CS Touring – 7:29.49
- M3 CS Sedan (G80) – 7:28.7
- M4 CS – 7:21.9
- M4 CSL – 7:18.1 (fastest BMW ever)
While the M4 CSL remains king of the hill, the M3 CS Touring’s new record is a proud moment for estate fans who want performance without compromise.
What’s Next for BMW M?
BMW M has made it clear: lap times matter. With the G90/G99 M5 models on the horizon and rumours of CS versions planned for the facelift in 2027, we could see even more records fall.
